Back to NewsUnforgettable experience at the University of Oxford
On 31st January, a group of five Year 10 students visited the University of Oxford, accompanied by Ms Boam.
Upon arrival we were welcomed by Magdalen College, where we had an introduction to university life followed by a Q&A session with four Magdalen student ambassadors and a tour of the college grounds. After lunch we had two academic sessions, on the topics of Engineering and Music, followed by a further tour of Brasenose College.
Amin Bourenane in Year 10 said of the trip: “Our visit to Oxford University was an utterly unforgettable experience. The deer, the dining hall, Addison’s walk, and the vivid colours of Magdalen’s garden was fascinating and awe-inspiring. The university has been rated the top university in the world for six consecutive years now and it is clear why: the tutorials; the way the teachers teach, with a range of emotion and humour; the 600 and more clubs and activities on offer to students. The day really helped me understand what university life is like.”
Rita Pereira, who also attended, said: “It was a great day! I was very grateful for this opportunity provided to me. I loved seeing Oxford and learning about the university experience.”
Ms Boam accompanied the students. She said, “It was a great day and we have more opportunities and trips planned for Year 10 students in the coming months, to help them consider future pathways, whether that be university applications, apprenticeships or something else.”
