Back to NewsWA comes together for interfaith Iftar
Happy Eid! We have loved welcoming families back on site after the Covid restrictions and two weeks ago WA was delighted to bring back our Interfaith Iftar for an opportunity for all WA families to come together during Ramadan.
We had an incredible turnout, so much so that we had to keep adding tables, not only for guests but for the huge quantity of food provided by our generous guests. Families brought an array of wonderful dishes from all over the world including Algerian and Moroccan specialities, biryani, lasagne, quiche and tiramisu. Mr Hoque’s fresh lemonade was particularly popular! It was a great chance to try different types of cuisine and feast like kings. It was particularly special to be able to gather as one community to break our fasts together.
We would like to thank Lina Alchami and Westbourne Community Champions for their support in making this a community-wide event, WA alumni Naabil Khan and Umar Hashim for their invaluable contributions and WA Sixth Formers for their decorating and cookery skills. We also owe thanks to our fantastic Sites and Catering teams and Mr Jaber for their time and help, plus a big thank you to Ms Cockar for organising the entire Iftar.
Finally, a huge thanks to all the families who attended for your delicious dishes and high spirits which made this such a memorable evening for all.
