Back to NewsIB Results: WA Students Shine Again!
Yesterday, WA Year 13 students received their results for IB courses and once again there was cause for celebration!
The average point score for IB Career-Related Programme (IBCP) core elements certificated yesterday was 8.1 out of 14. Those academic qualifications, combined with outstanding levels of achievement in students' vocational courses, continue to secure our IBCP students excellent progression to Higher Education and employment, well above local and national comparisons.
There are still some BTEC results to be confirmed but all of our business students met the requirements for their university choices and we already know that WA IBCP students' destinations will include Sheffield (Digital Media and Society); Nottingham (Computer Science); Queen Mary (Marketing; Hispanic studies with Business management); Bath (Business with Work Placement); and SOAS (Accounting & Finance).
The average score for our IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) cohort was 33.5 out of 45, well above the global average of 30.2. The results also show an improvement on the pre-pandemic average score at WA, which was 32 in 2019. Two students - Amani C and Annabelle W - had individual scores of 44 out of 45, which fewer than 3% of students achieved in the previous IBDP cohort, worldwide. The results enabled WA IBDP students to confirm their places on degree courses at excellent institutions including Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Bristol, UCL, King's College, and Exeter.
Despite the challenges of the post-pandemic era and the shifting landscape of grading over the last three years, WA students have once again achieved or exceeded their academic potentials and can now go confidently into their next stage in life, fully equipped for success as a result of their IB courses of study.
Congratulations to our Year 13 students, to their families, and to everyone at WA!
