Year 13s complete UCAS applications and start to gain exciting offers!

This week at WA we have successfully submitted all of our UCAS applications for our Year 13 cohort!

Every student who wished to apply to university has now completed and submitted their UCAS application, and their offers are coming in thick and fast! 89% of our students have already received at least one university offer, and 15 students have already received all five offers! Students have also been applying to apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships, and are securing assessment centre tests alongside interviews. This year, we also had seven applications to Oxford and Cambridge, with six students securing interviews. Two students have secured Oxford offers so far; one to read English Literature and another to read Law. We also have a medical applicant who is currently working to revise for her second interview! International applications are also going well, with one student possessing multiple scholarship offers from US universities, and one student holding offers from Maastricht and The Hague universities in the Netherlands.

At WA, students’ university, apprenticeship and degree apprenticeship application journeys begin in Year 12. Students have apprenticeship assemblies, university assemblies, and can take part in programmes such as Career Ready and OxNet. In the spring term, our Oxbridge and Medicine Preparation Programmes begin, and students also take part in ‘University Application Day’ which sets them up to have productive summers researching universities and courses and writing first drafts of their personal statements. They also take part in one-to-one Careers meetings in the summer term, as well as completing a work experience week in July. In Year 13, students then have multiple one-to-one meetings with the UCAS Lead and the OxNet Coordinator, who support them throughout their applications.

We wish the best of luck to our students on achieving the IB grades they need to make their offers!
