Back to NewsYear 10 students represent WA in the Speak Out regional final
Congratulations to the two WA students who participated in the regional final of Jack Petchey's public speaking competition 'Speak Out', carefully preparing and presenting speeches on ‘accidents’ and ‘the value of time’. Read more below...
Me and Uran were chosen out of all of Year 10 to present our speeches again at the regional final of the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge. We arrived at the Cardinal Vaughn Memorial School for the regional final at 4pm where we had an insightful workshop readying us for our performances which taught us different presentation skills and ways to improve our speeches. The students we met there (also regional finalists like us) were so friendly and all of their speeches were amazing!
Although Uran and I didn't win, we received certificates for our work and met the MP of Kensington (who actually mentioned me in his speech about the Labour Party's plans in future regarding attention span and devices).
All in all, it was an incredibly memorable experience which has taught me a lot about the way I present myself and my confidence; to any future Year 10s who get this opportunity, I couldn't recommend more that you take it!
