Sir David Attenborough is WA’s only living House Hero, and we are thrilled to see him celebrate this very special milestone.

In 2022 Westminster Academy reviewed its House Heroes and asked the student body to put forward a new Hero who would represent our values. The result of the process was that Sir David Attenborough became our very popular new House Hero! Students highlighted his passion for the planet and his critical work to protect and conserve our precious world as reasons for selecting him. Our Academy Council at the time said in a letter to Sir David, “Your work has inspired the world, and the pupils at our school especially. You are a true hero.”

This week students have been doing a series of activities during tutor time to celebrate the knowledge Sir David has given us, and the weird and wonderful situations he has found himself in. For example, a narration challenge, the David Attenborough quiz and ‘how would you survive a silverback gorilla charging at you’?!

We would like to thank Sir David for his pioneering work revealing Earth’s wonders to us, for helping us to learn to love and care for the planet upon which we depend, and for inspiring us to be curious about the world around us. Happy 100th Birthday!
